Hi everyone!
I'm trying my best not to start finalizing my world literature paper on Madame Bovary and Jane Eyre. (Not that I don't love the books. I do. But the paper is killing me.)
:)
Which city do you live in and what do you like most about it?

I live in Boston. I love how much presence the city has. Its areas are all so distinct, each with its own appeal. Ours is also an incredibly erudite city. We have tens of colleges and universities and three of the world's best hospitals... That said, I love the people, their diehard Red Sox fanship, their driving...

Besides getting your acceptance letter from Amherst, to what are you most looking forward?

Haha, a bat because I love nighttime and I wish that I could fly, and ever since I saw that one Magic School Bus episode where they went to the haunted mansion and got turned into bats I've always wanted to be able to be one. And they're so cute! When I was staying in Costa Rica there was a small cave near the school I was going to and there were these bats hanging from the ceiling just a few inches from the tops of our heads. They were adorable.

Anyway, aside from being accepted into Amherst I look forward most to traveling in Europe and writing as much as I can while doing so.

What will be the first thing that you do at Amherst after setting your bags down in your room for the first time the day you arrive?

I would definitely do my happy dance :) It's too hard to explain in words but if I'm accepted to Amherst i'll be sure to perform it for you :) Then I would go buy every piece of amherst gear the store sells and scout out the best coffee shop in town. After doing all this, I would go find the greenest, most central lawn on campus, lie down and think about how incredible the next four years will be. Haha wow.... i got kind of carried away there :)

Which character (from a book) is most similar to you and why?

In a simplistic way, Hester Prynne. While I don't behave in ways that are obviously socially unacceptable, in the face of difficulty and lonliness, I have held my head high. I would say I resemble Hester Prynne because of our shared tendency toward resilience.

What was the best/most interesting movie you've seen recently?

hmmmmm, that's interesting.

The best/most interesting movie i've seen in the past few weeks is Das Leben der Anderen (the lives of others). We're watching it in German class and it's absolutely amazing. It's about East Germany and the influence of the MsF (or Stasi) on the lives of normal people. I highly highly highly recommend it if you're into political movies and although it's set in East Germany in 1984 I think it accurately reflects the challenges people faced (and still face) living in any Communist/authoritarian state where the intelligence community dictates the way people live their lives.

What quote most accurately describes your life philosophy? (mine is "If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them," Thoreau)

(Nice one pirate)
I like "Ap

"The Lives of Others" was going to be my pick, too!

I would want live in colonial Boston.

If you could bring any one species back from extinction, which would it be?

the unicorn :)

We read the English translation of "One Hundred Years of Solitude" in English class but everyone tells me the original is way better... unfortunately no ablo espanol :(

Who is your favourite historical figure?

hi everyone!

napoleon!

what's your favorite song right now?

I'd like to read an English version because I feel there are many parts with difficult translation, like the quote I cited.

Odysseus.

What's your favorite Ancient Civilization?

Ancient Egypt (yes, Daniel, I like the Mayas, too!).

Who's your favorite Egyptian god/myth/hieroglyph?
