A lot of my friends have started writing their college essays. I've looked and filled out some of the common app, but i have not started my essays. I was wondering if anyone has completed their essays or how they are planning to finish their essays in due time.

I filled out most of the common app. And started three essays. Nothing serious. Mostly just quirky introductions and a rough outline. I actually plan on doing all my summer work before finishing any college related things. I probably wont even finish most of them by the time summer is over.

I started the Common App, but not the essays. As of late I’ve just been thinking about things to write.

Hey if we start on the Common App, if later in the year we join another club or start sth or have worse grade, how can we update?

Good question. Try posting it in the Common App forum.

I finished my common app essay and the 2 essays for my ED school. Going to write the essay for my safety school this summer, and possibly the essays for Chicago and MIT EA.

I haven’t started the Common App essay yet, I don’t really have a good idea what I should write yet since I want my essay to be interesting and different. The only things I’ve wrote are for University of Michigan short answer questions. I haven’t written the main essay yet for U-M.

I just have been thinking about my UC essay’s but nothing actually written yet.

Yeah, haven’t started on anything, either.

Yeah, I have yet to study… still trying to find & compare colleges, etc. >.<

does anyone know when the supplements come on the common app? or does that start in sept?

^ whenever the college releases it. i know that the Chicago one is on there.

If you look on the My Colleges section, it tells you whether the particular college’s supplement is available and if so, whether you can fill it out online. AFAIK HYPS’s are up, but not JHU’s.

I finished a Common App Essay and one of the two UC essays so far.

you guys already started your UC essays?
does this mean that the prompts will be the same as last years?

im not planning on spending much time actually writing the essays, per se. more time editing them.

for example, I wrote my 1300-word draft for the common app choose-your-own in about an hour and a half.

where can i find the applications for colleges that don’t use the common app? like umich and columbia

^ Their respected websites?

for places that do use common app…do they also have their own apps too?

Some do, some are common app exclusively

Most websites haven’t updated their apps yet, they do it like the beg. of August, I believe.
