I'm currently a junior, and I've never done a sport. I'm just not the athletic type really. My school is starting a Lacrosse team for next year, and I'm interested in joining. My only worry is that colleges will see this as a last attempt at squeezing in a sport to look better on admissions. I might not even end up doing it regardless, with scheduling conflicts and all, but if I can choose, can anyone offer some advice?

if u enjoy the sport do it

don’t do it if its just for college apps

I think this depends on a variety of circumstances.
Are you already involved extra-curricularly? If so, it may not be a good idea to join a sport, because you may not have the time to balance all of your activities (especially with senior year coming up, where the first few months are a mad frenzy of completing college applications, and the last few months bring a plague of senioritis.) However, if you aren’t very involved in extra-curricular activities, I would suggest you to join the sports team so you gain a competitive edge.
Also, are you applying to a university under a specific major? If you’re applying as a science major, for example, your time may be better spent volunteering for a hospital or clinic and proving your exposure in that field.
Unless, of course, you truly love the sport and aren’t just using it as a method of beefing up your college application.

imagine this, well look suzy joined a sports team, lets try and get into her head and see just why

could it be because its fun, healthy, something different, her friends are doing it, she wants to try something new? oh no maybe its to just try and impress us!!

do you really think colleges have the time to hyper anylyze each and every ec appicants do? think about it logically, do it if you want and it works in your schedule, don’t even consider the implication on college aps

My biggest conflict would be that I’m involved in quite a few clubs, and I’m interested in starting up our basically non-existant French Club next year. I want to double major in Physics and French, so I feel like since there aren’t a lot of opportunities to show an interest in Physics, I can just really show how dedicated I am to French.

And while I’m not doing it for college apps, I will admit that I’m partially doing it to fill in my IB Action hours for CAS.

But having talked to my IB teachers, they’ve expressed that while they would try to work with me, they don’t recommend a sport on top of clubs, because it’s just too much. Well, I suppose I can just enjoy Outdoor Club :)

Thanks guys and girls!

Girls lacrosse requires speed, endurance, and coordination (D played for years). Aggressiveness helps. It is not a good sport for the non-athletic.
