I don't like science, in my school you only need 3years of science to graduate. I have all three years of science.
I am not really good at science, and learning things fast. For AP BIO in my
school you have to go early in the morning, and 2 days out of lunch for the class. I really don't want to take it, but will college adcoms think its bad
that I didn't take science?..This is my senior year schedule:Contemporary Lit, World History, Psychology, Algebra 3, Media and Culture. I am in HFrench IV right now but I'm not taking AP French bc i suck at french. Also you need 5.5 electives to graduate and I have 4 right now. That's why I am taking
Media Culture, Contemporary Lit, and psychology. They are all half a credit. Any advice???I am also doing early dismissal-where you get out of school early.

You should take the class especially if you have no APs senior year. Even so, I you have never taken one, these are good to take for possible college credit.
BTW, where in Ohio are you? I am from the Northeast.

ap bio ... great times.

it was a tough class and i'm really surprised i got an A throughoug the class... i generally bordered around 90... 93 level... anyway, i think if you are interested in bio, take it. if not, don't.

i remember reading around 400 pages of text before a test. of course, i'd spend a few hours on a weekend reading the entire chapter and then read them again.

that's my thought. i got a 4 and was ****ed. i was sure i got a 5. don't matter, though, ap tests don't matter.

It really depends on you and your school. If you think you can handle it, then you should definetly take it. At my school, AP Biology is the easiest AP science class, and kids usually do well. All you have to do is keep up with the reading and you should be fine.

Remember, you will be handed a 1500 page book and be asked to cover the ENTIRE thing.

I definitely agree it's easier to AP Chemistry. AP Chemistry = little reading, but a ton of problems.

In my school, AP Bio is tough. In fact, out of 15 kids in my class, I along with maybe a couple others are the only ones who really like it (the subject and the class) while everyone else says they "hate" the class and "don't know why they took it" and that they "don't even like biology."

It's tons of memorization, and if you're not up for that, I wouldn't take it.

AP Bio just memorizing and applying it to biological situations. AP Bio is definitley the top 5 hardest APs along with AP Physics, Chem, Calc BC, and USH. This course I would not recommend a soph or a freshman to take it because it really affects your other classes.

Take the AP bio class if you are willing to put in the work

at our school, AP Bio is the easiest class, and last year, out of 22 kids that took it, all but 4 students got a five. three of the others got a 4. one person got a 3.

This may or may not be a harsh suggestion depending upon the type of student you are, but don't take AP bio if you think you're going to slow the class down. If you can make the grade without liking the class, that's fine, but if you truly think you're going to suffer through it I wouldn't reccommend it.

Is Ap Bio harder or equivalent to Ap Chem?

varies by school/by teacher. in my school ap bio is by far harder, but in many schools its the opposite because our bio teacher tests on specifics and applications and asks thought provoking test questions/labs. the chem things are more straightforward/what we did in class.

thanks logistics

I hate AP Bio and I am taking it solely to place out of 8 natural science requirement credits next year at UT-Austin - I NEED a 4 or 5!!! I guess some of the topics are interesting but science is not my thing and I am constantly joking with the teacher about how much I hate the subject and yet am doing so well (we have a weird relationship). Can't believe I have pulled off A's all year...NEED TO PASS THAT AP TEST!!!

Yea, if you are not into sciences I would definitely not recommend taking AP Bio. Biology is a very different science than Chem or Physics in that it is more memorization than conceptual or math-based learning. So, if you don't have a problem with memorization I don't think it would be that bad, but if you dislike science altogether I wouldn't recommend it.

yeah, I agree. Biology is for those who can memorize. Chemistry and Physics is more applications based and solving problems.

God, I hate chem and physics. If there's an AP something else (that hopefully interests you more) that you can replace AP bio with, then you should go for it. I don't think it's worth the pain of having to go to school early and miss lunch two days a week to take a class you don't like.

I hate science with a passion, and it's always been an anchor that drags my GPA down (I think I have like a B- in physics-ugh), so I'm taking two histories so that colleges wouldn't think I'm slacking off.

rExRuN467: AP USH has to be the easies AP class on the face of the planet.

It's all subjective. I find Calculus BC to be the easiest AP test, while everyone else will disagree with me.

what colleges are you applying for Ohiogirl?

Well I have to take AP BIO, bc I just had huge fight with my dad abt wht courses I'm taking. My dad went psycho, like a crazy african parent. So yea, and I cried for like ten minutes,bc i hate living with my parents I want to go to college so bad!!! I'm applying to OSU, Florida State University, U of Washington, American University. I will probably end up going to OSU bc my dad will force me bc he forces me to do everything, and I never have a say in anything.yep my life is great
