Should I take AP Pysch Next Year or Not???? I have All A's so far this year, but a B in english and a C in my Honor's History Class 79 atm. Next Year I plan on taking Honor Pre Calc and Honors Chem. How difficult is AP Pysch and is it worth taking????

I never took it, but at my school, it was considered an easier AP.

However, what are you hoping to get out of AP Psych? Are you looking for an AP so that you can get credit for the classes in college, are you considering a psych major, or are you just doing it to take an AP?

Well I always thought pyschology was an interesting subject and also wanted to give it a try to see if I liked it or not, maybe it could be my major in college, you never know. Also I’m struggling to handle my Honor History Class so next year I will probably take regular history instead. I’m just worried since I couldn’t handle Honor History then how could I handle AP Pysch?

Well it’s two different subjects. Just because one is hard doesn’t mean the other will be too. If it’s something you might be interested in, definitely take it. Plus, if you go into A&S, I’m sure the AP will count towards gen-ed requirements.

Well it falls under a social studies elective in the program of studies and I meet all the requirements for it, but I just don’t want it to do harm to my GPA which sky rocketing up. I’ve been told my older friends it is an easy class with lots of extra credit offered.

Then take it!

I’m still 50/50 at this point, History teacher talked about it and I’m getting scared that because it’s supposedly a social studies elective I won’t do good. The other scenario is taking an easy elective or two to bump by raising GPA? Real Tough Decision right now lol.

I took AP Psychology in my Senior year and it’s definitely an easier AP class. I would suggest you taking it, because Pitt gives tons of credit if you pass AP tests. Honestly, I did not study much for tests because I can just understand vocabulary by looking at it. For example, take chameleon effect. It obviously has to do with mimicking something (mimicking people’s movements). Most of the AP test consisted of psychologists and what they did, some vocabulary terms, some simple cases, and little brain anatomy. If I were in your shoes, I would take it. I could just pay 86 dollars…87 dollars I mean (Collegeboard raised the price by 1 dollar again?! ==) and get credit rather than paying thousands of dollars. I heard from my friends that they have participate in Psychology research, which takes up some time. Keep in mind that Psychology is a general education requirement, so you’re gonna have to take it anyways. And 46% of students who took the AP Psych test got 4’s and 5s (which qualifies for Pitt credit)! <a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board;

Like AwesomeOppsum said…TAKE IT! :)

SO far I’m debating over to take AP Pysch or Honors Anatomy and Physiology. I’m not sure about Honors Anatomy yet so I’ll ask my science teacher, but I think you need to take a science elective called academic human Biology in order to take Honors Anatomy and I am looking into that as well. What would you take in my situation. An AP class like Pysch could help my GPA, but my interests lye in the Medicial Field so taking the other option would be ideal too.

I had an Honors Anatomy and Physiology class at high school too (Do you go to NA? lol)! In my opinion, I found the class to be harder than AP Psych. There was a lot of memorization in Anatomy and Physiology class compared to Psych. In anatomy and physiology class, you need to memorize the bones (and some tiny holes in them), muscles, organs, cellular respiration and action potential (with neurons). The class isn’t that hard if you’re willing to study often. The class definitely made the anatomy and physiology part of AP Psych a breeze, but I would take AP Psychology first. It’s much easier (I just study for tests the night before), boosts your GPA, and give you college credit (if you pass AP test). I would take Honors Anatomy and Phys until my Senior year until grades don’t really matter as much. lol xD It slightly brought down my GPA (I got a B), but it’s because I study the night before (which was a bad choice) and I had it at 7:30 am. Honestly though, you won’t need to learn anatomy and phys until you get into medical school (but I heard it’s good to take an anatomy course which you can do until Junior or Senior year at college). It is good to be interested in course that correlates with your interest, but the major point in high school (in my opinion) is getting some college credits and boosting GPA. BUT if you hear anatomy class is easy, then you should take it too. xD

Actually I do go to NA lol, and that really helped making my decision. I’ll just take AP pysch for my elective next year and take Honor Anatomy and Physiology senior year. Thanks.

In that case, definitely take AP Psych because it’s much easier than Honors Anatomy (spend less time). xD And if you want to take another easy AP class, take Economics (the teacher is awesome, gives you bagels, and is so laid back lol). She literally gave everyone A’s and B’s in my year, so you just need to try a bit harder to get that A. If you have other questions about the AP teachers and honors classes, feel free to ask.

Thanks this really made my decision easier to make. WILL take AP Pysch Next Year with Honor Chem and Honor Pre Calc.
