Stupid humor aside ... Due to budget cuts, everyone in NC has to pay full price for all AP exams. Because of this, those who have more than 3 AP classes can choose to take an AP exam without lowering the letter grade of the individual not taking the exam by one. I am taking 6 AP classes. Since my mom lost her job, money's been kinda tight and I don't see a benefit in taking my AP Computer Science exam. Would this look bad for a college if I'm a senior now and colleges won't see that I opted not to take the exam until, like, july?

Check all of the colleges you may attend to see whether any give credit* for the AP tests that you may decide to not take.

*Check both credit units and subject credit for placing into more advanced courses. Credit units may improve your class standing and give you better registration priority; subject credit can shorten prerequisite sequences or fulfill requirements that will allow you to take additional free electives in or out of your major.

Honestly, i don’t think it’s going to be a big deal. Money is tight in my family too so I could only take one AP test instead of the three classes I have. Additionally,in my other two AP classes my teachers are kind of a joke and we don’t learn anything so I didn’t want to take the risk.

Unless you know that you are going to do good on the exam and you really want the college credit, then I suggest you take it. But if you’re a bit skeptical and don’t really care whether or not you get the college credit and can get out of taking a class in college, then you shouldn’t.

like you mentioned you get results in July so you’re already accepted and in the college.
