@cayton
haha thank you that’s very nice of you, I wish you the best man! :)

@ucastell

Thanks!

I know success where I see it. :P

I wish you guys the best too! That’s interesting. Most likely I’m going to De Anza because it’s right there next to my family and everyone (also I want a job at the Apple Store, haha), so I was ecstatic when I saw it was listed under the Berkeley TAP program. Too bad it’s not listed under UCLA’s, whereas Foothill is! I’ll take a look. I learned so much from you guys, thank you! You are all such great help!

I went to 3 different community colleges before transferring to UCLA in 2012:

Los Angeles Valley College (LAVC)
Los Angeles Mission College (LAMC)
Santa Monica College (SMC) aka Saint Monique

Most of my classes were at LAMC and LAVC, out of those 2 I liked LAMC more for various reasons:

1) the waiting list to get subsidized child care was a lot shorter
2) the campus smaller, nicer, and quieter. It has the feel of a small liberal arts college.
3) The math classes were a lot easier especially math (calculus, linear algebra)

I only took 1 class at Saint Monique (Math 10- Discrete Structures) the only reason being is that they dont offer that class at many community colleges. It is definitely harder than LAVC and LAMC.

Just go to the college that u feel more comfortable because that is where u will be happier and likely to have a higher GPA.I personally hate commuting so I dreaded going to Saint Monique, plus Saint Monique is a rough neighborhood. Careful or you might get shot [2013 Santa Monica shooting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](2013 Santa Monica shootings - Wikipedia)

@hichristen

No problem. We’re here to help each other succeed and all that jazz lol

However, some students find the discrete math course harder than calculus or linear algebra because of the content of the course, even at the same school.

So the link to ASSIST a few days ago to help me look up what I should do to transfer from a CCC to UCLA/UCB… I’m on the website and I got to this: [ASSIST Report: DAC 13-14 UCB Articulation Agreement by Major](http://web1.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=2&sia=DAC&ria=UCB&ia=UCB&oia=DAC&aay=13-14&ay=13-14&dora=ECON)

I do not really understand what it is saying. Especially on the bottom. Does that mean I should take the left column, and the right column is what it parallels in the UC school?

@hichristen

The right column of classes are the classes offered at your CC that must be taken for the major of economics to transfer to Berkeley. The left column of classes shows the classes that the right column’s classes are equivalent to.

In regards to what it says at the bottom:

“The course/s cited above have been officially accepted by this major and approved by both a Berkeley advisor/faculty member and Berkeley’s articulation officer.”

This is pretty much self-explanatory. This insures that your classes are teaching the same subject matter as the necessary classes for the economic major at UC Berkeley are teaching, so they’ll transfer.

“This articulation agreement is subject to periodic revision.”

This means that this can change—the classes might not transfer anymore or that the necessary classes for transfer might change.

“Please consult ASSIST frequently to obtain current information.”

Well, this is just good advice to take if you want to transfer to a UC from a CC or another UC.
