To those who know about Pton track and field

What's a good time you suggest for running the 400 and 800m in if one tries to get recruited? I currently run about 59 seconds for the 400 and about 2:01 for the 800.

i don't know about princeton track specifically, but a 2:01 in the 8 is a much better time than a 59 in the 4.

I think its a typo (probably 49). I find it hard to believe that someone who only runs a 59 400 can run a 2:01

I think if he ran a 49, he'd know he was good to go. Or is Princeton track and field really that competitive?

49 is really good lol

LOL my bad I never look at the screen or keyboard when I type (I'm usually watching ESPN at the same time lol). No, I run a 53 for the 400. Lol, I wish I could run a 49 though, that would break the school record. I wish I could get it down, but it seems to me that I usually peter out in the end (because I haven't adjusted from the 800?) while in the 800 I finish strong. I want to do better on both, of course.

Hmmm, I'm hopefully going to end up at Princeton next year for track, but I am a longer distance runner

Are you a junior, b/c with another season of outdoor under your belt you could drop those times significantly. I think to be looked at, it all depends on a sort of sliding scale between speed and academics. I think if you are better academically, like 2300+, top 1-3 % of class, you can run times of 2:00ish and get looked at. However, if your Sats are around say 2100, you're going to need to drop some time. Princeton is typically looked at as a weaker mid-distacne school, so if you can get down to the 49-50 or 1:54-55 range, you should be pretty good. Princeton had one guy who ran 1:55 in the open 8 at Heps. Check out the track website at www.goprincetontigers.com to see how you stack up.

Here is an obvious Princeton track recruit. hopefully her stats can help tell you something.

Hmm, those stats actually don't really tell us anything. A female sprint recruit is slightly different than a male mid-distance guy :)
