Recently I was extended waitlisted to a competitive school in New York, and I just happened to be visiting (no seriously, we had this trip planned out weeks ago). I was wondering if it was worth the trip to go and attempt to meet with an admissions officer. Although the website says that they don't offer interviews anymore, "interview" is not exactly the word I had in mind, and I was hoping more to show them my interest than anything else. Is this a good idea or not? If it is, how should I go about getting the admission office's attention?

Since you already have the trip planned I don’t see why it could hurt to visit, but seeking out an admission officer seems desperate especially since I don’t believe that there is much they can do since you have already been waitlisted. Even if they could do you honestly believe that they would?
