To what colleges/universities are you applying?

I HATE this question! What's the best way to approach it? To be honest, I'm applying to A LOT of colleges...is it okay if I don't mention them all? Can our answer to this question have an impact on our chances somehow? Any advice...?

Some colleges ask this as a supplement question on the Common App!

Where is this question asked?

^I’m guessing by teachers, relatives, friends, etc.

I just tell them the “a couple” and list 4-5 random colleges that I’m applying to.

^No, no! It’s a supplement question on the Common App!

by which college…

^ Hofstra University for example.

Yeah what college would ask that? You should have to disclose information about other schools…

best be honest… sometimes colleges share names and info of ED applicants. though i doubt they would do it for RD (too many applicants to track) you should be honest just in case you get busted

I would double check that question to be sure that is what it is asking…
I have never heard of a school asking about other schools - that doesn’t seem right.

They do ask that sometimes. Just be generic, i.e. “small liberal arts schools”, etc.

^ But will being generic be a risky move?

Can you post the question here? I’m curious to see it…

^ It’s very simple:
“To what other colleges/universities are you applying:”

I doubt that anything you post there could hurt your chances.
