So how was it at school today? LA and Cal was all people were taking about today. There was quite a bundle of unexpected rejections and one or two surprising admissions. how was your day?

I really didn't want to go to school today. =[

i dont know

spring break... try to spend 4 days of break worrying about admission... ruined the whole break...

hahah dude. my english class.
freaking intense, you know.
that was the only class i went to today.

it was wonderful! because i got in to both!!!!!!!

today at school...we had about 7 admits apiece for berkeley and LA. with LA being random as usual, accepting people with no extracurriculars and far from stellar stats

it was pretty intense...

combinations....some friends got totally rejected, a few got into UCLA like me, or Cal only...I had one friend get both and she doesn't even want to go to either....congrats bannana girl!

I think my school makes up about 2% of LA's applicants.. intense! (Of course I didn't calculate it or anything... But you get the gist)

"spring break... try to spend 4 days of break worrying about admission... ruined the whole break..."

SERIOUSLY. i couldn't concentrate on anything.

Btw, notorious, I'm from Torrance also! Which school do you go to?

lol this sucks all my friends got into both SD and berk while only one got into LA and don't want to go there while I got rejected from SD, spring admission to berk and want to go to LA but I don't know anyone lol

I can imagine smug a-holes flaunting acceptance in everyone's face. haha, that's one thing I won't have to worry about if I get rejected from CAL or UCLA, since I don't even know anyone in my class who's applying to any of the UCs.

Srabiee- I tried to be pretty humble about it, My friend and I are the only two out of about 15 who actually got into LA, lot of Cal acceptances.

One of my friends was rejected to both because he applied to engineering.

Wait... out of the 15 Cal admits, there were only 2 UCLA admits? The tables have indeed turned.

So far, I know of 3 people in my shoes (Rejected at Cal, in at UCLA/SD), and 2 people in the opposite situation. One of the ones that got rejected from UCLA but in at Cal is appealing UCLA for admissions. Our school is getting tense more because we're figuring out where we're going to go, not which ones we got in to. I know of 3 people that will go to Cal for sure, and maybe 5 that will go to UCLA.

The tally so far hasn't been very pleasing though. While I literally counted out of just my vague acquaintance circle ~27 people admitted to UCSD, maybe 1/3 of them got into Cal or UCLA. Sad considering last year 10% of the class got in at both Cal and UCLA, and 2x% got into UCSD, although I by no means talk to everyone. I was looking forward to going to UCLA with a few friends, but they got rejected though...

flopsy- Yeah, it was really surprising. I don't know if it has to do with the fact we are so close to Cal, or perhaps something else.

so in admission it matters what your intended major is? Would it hurt me to apply as undecided, since I still have no idea about what I'd like to major in?

For the engineering school, it matters.
For the arts&architecture school, it matters.
For the college of letters&science, it shouldn't matter.

I felt pretty bad for those who got the unexpected rejections.

They clearly wanted to go to UCLA more than I did and were clearly way more qualified.

'tis bittersweet.
