They host a show in Colonial Williamsburg, but do a 5 minute video clip about student voting patterns at UVA, with the verbiage that the "smartest kids in Virginia go to UVA."

Never mentioned W&M, at least while I was watching.

What an insult, I hope the students at W&M get up in arms over it.

Actually, they did mention W&M at least one in the 8:00 hour.....

and I think the quote was "some of the smartest kids in Virginia go to UVA"

I would imagine that the reason that Luke Russert did his story at UVA was due to the national name recognition, not b/c they were tryng to intentionally diss W&M....

It just seems odd, almost like they had no idea what a gem W&M is. The same student voting story could have been filmed at W&M at much less cost, and would have fit the show better. Heck, they could have done the story live by just interviewing some of the students who were hanging around.

My wife and I do not recall the word "some" being used, but maybe we just missed it!

We are a little biased since we both graduated from W&M.

In fact, my wife said everyone knows W&M is harder to get into than UVA. I don't think I would go that far. lol We both are convinced we would have 0% chance of getting in now.

BTW, I have a son at each school right now!

But for people who know, they know that W&M has a more rarified, selective student body than UVA. I still rather would go to UVA myself, but W&M students are generally a bit "better."

By the way, I've never lived in Virginia or had any ties to either school.

Luke Russert has issued an apology--not for dissing W&M by saying that the smartest kids in VA go to UVA (there was no qualifier) but for saying that smart kids are supporting Obama.

I'm willing to give NBC the benefit of the doubt about going to UVA because it has "Virginia" in its name and Larry Sabato. But it was disappointing that W&M's excellence wasn't recognized and its presence in Williamsburg barely acknowledged.

A side note, my daughter said the the "adults" (and I use that word loosely in this case) that were there with their McCain/Obama signs were very rude to the students. She had walked over to get something to eat from one of the vendors and came back to join her friends and got an earful from some strange woman who decided that she needed to stand where my daughter's friends happen to be. It really shocked the girls especially since they were nowhere near the front of the group. I fault the head of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation who also sits on the W&M BOV for not getting the College out in front or for not correcting Luke Russert's statement

Williamsburg has some very stuck up townies... like the ones who go to Ukrops and don't help the cashier bag their groceries when there is no one to bag, and it takes the cashier forever...
