Toefl!! Questions!

u of michigan says that they require the toefl of any "NONNATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS". i was born in china but i moved to the us when i was 8 months old so i have lived in the us for 16 years.

does that mean i still have to take this test?!?!

no........

really, are you sure?

Were you speaking at 8 months? :-)

......... shutup, i'm neurotic.

The point is that you probably learned English at the same time you learned Chinese; therefore, you are a native speaker.

The best way to find out, however, is to call the admissions office. No one here can give you a definitive answer.

Actually, I have the same problem. The BU supplemental says that if I'm a nonnative English speaker, then I have to take the TOEFL, but from what people have told me and my test scores, I'm positive that I don't need to take it.

I asked my GC about it, but she wasn't very clear on it either. I think I'm just going to call and ask. If they make me take the TOEFL... Well.
