Hi everyone, I'm an international student doing the IB diploma program, and my GPA and predicted grades are fine, but i'm worried about my SAT critical reading score, which is 590. I have heard that if you do good on the TOEFL, your SAT reading score is scaled up. Does anyone know if this is true?

Rules vary among colleges so you really need to check the particular colleges to which you are applying and information can usually be found on-line in admission information section for international students. Some colleges require TOEFL regardless of your CR score; others excuse TOEFL if you score a certain CR level and what that is varies among colleges but often that number is in the mid-high 500s range and 590 is likely hig anough for many of them. But again you must check each college’s particular rule. As to considering TOEFL as a replacement for CR score, that is not done, but most colleges give internationals a break on CR scores, meaning you do not need to be as high on it as English speaking students as long as TOEFL score is OK. In other words, it is scaled up in that sense (but they don’t really create a new CR number for you). But how much of a break also varies among colleges.
