Hi guys, I am an international student, and I have a question about the toefl. Mist universities I want to apply early require a minimum score of 80, but I got 79 (what a luck…). So can I still apply early with this score or should I retake the toefl and apply regular ? What I want to know is can universities accept me with a 79 if the minimum required score is 80 ? (It’s just one point after all…)
I would work on your English, retake the TOEFL, and apply regular - TOEFL requirements are usually strict requirements, and even if one of them wasn’t, I don’t think it’s worth risking applying to your favorite EA college and getting rejected simply because you couldn’t show sufficient English proficiency.
Okay thanks for your answer. Jacobs University is one of my top schools, the deadline for early action is the 1st december, I thing I will retake the TOEFL in november, and apply through EA. But I read on its website that if I get more than 580 in the SAT Critical reading, I may be qualified for a test waiver. I can also apply to University of Miami, they accept undergraduate students with more than 61, but I have to take a full time IEP. I’m really disappointed, I don’t know what I should do
Do what’s been recommended: study and retake TOEFL. If you’re a full-pay student, applying regular decision is less risky than applying early with a low score. If you need financial aid, a low TOEFL will certainly sink your chances.
Also: have you taken the SAT? What were your scores?
I just took the sat yesterday, so my score will not be available until October 22
