Toefl Takers

Hey, I'm taking the TOEFL iBT tomorrow, how hard is it compared to the SAT ?

I scored 790 and 670 on the SAT Critical Reading and Writing part respectively, how well should I do ? Is it easy, as I have been told ?

How about time ? In the SAT you finish every section in a rush, there is no time to lose. I've heard the TOEFL iBT gives you plenty of time. Is that true ?

Any tips are welcome !

Thanks.

The TOEFL is different from the SAT. The SAT does not make listen to a lecture and read a text and then compare the two arguments (speaking).

But if your listening and speaking skills are as good as your reading and writing ones, you will do fine. Congrats to your SAT scores :)

ibt reading and writing are some what much easier than those of sat,jz get used to reading on screen and make sure that u type fast enough, ur cr is pretty high... congrats...
relax and i think u will get a really high score in ibt. ^ ^

You should just practice speaking and maybe writing because it is a little different than the SAT, but don't worry. Most good schools waive the Toefl for a SAT CR score above a certain limit anyway, look for a thread here on CC about which ones.

the Toefl is an easy test and with judging by you sat scores you ought to breeze through it. i got 117/120 on the ibt and i never studied for it - all i knew about the test before going in was that it had four sections and that each one was marked out of 30. i will just repeat what angelutza said as the speaking and writing parts are different from the sat.

btw i dont know where you are going to give the test from but in Bangladesh there are a couple of horrible test centres. i thankfully got the good one at the american alumni assosciation but i have heard some terrible stories from friends - apparently they were like putting in the hard drives on computers the morning of the test etc
