told colleges i want financial aid, but stnow decided i dont

hi, this is a long question, but it would help me soooooooo much if some ppl would take the time to answer it.

ive applied to 10 colleges for fall2008. they are:

san diego state university, pepperdine college, babson college, bentley college, bryant university, furman university, university of houston, university of san diego, and boston university.

i checked the box that said i will be applying for financial aid. the problem is that i heard applying for financial aid hurts my chances of gaining entry into a university. as i am already borderline with sat scores of math-650 reading-600 and writing-570, i dont want anything to ruin my chance.

also the reason i dont want to get it is because i cant be bothered to fill out all these forms.

ive filled out fafsa and sent it to only bentley college.

what now?, call all my schools and tell them to put me back into the "dont want finaincial aid students" pile,(and maybe set a bad image for myself)---or should i just leave it alone and not send anything in(except for calling bentley and telling them to ignore my form)???
so if i do the second option and leave myself as a finanial aid student, but dont apply for it at all, will i still have the same lowered chances?
please, im a first gen college student with abselutly no help coming from even my HS counselor. she told me to get lost and that she doesnt help with financial aid. my parents are only high school grads too. FAFSA said my EFC is ~27,000.

what i plan is to maybe apply for financial aid in during my last 3 college years, though i can make it through freshman year without it.

thank you a lot. any answer to any part of the question will help a lot. thanks

You need to check your schools VERY carefully. At some places you MUST apply for finaid for your freshman year in order to be eligible to do so in subsequent years. The drift of your post indicates that you just don’t want to DO the forms. My suggestion is that you DO the forms and get the finaid applications completed…unless, of course, you are able to pay the full price. The “edge” for students not applying for aid is not that significant. If you don’t have the stats to be accepted at a school, they won’t accept you…unless you donate enough money to build a building.

well i have filled out fafsa, its just that the CSS/Profile forms for the schools are very complicated. worse, most of my documents apart from tax return forms(such as investment values) are in a different country.

i am willng to fil outthe forms but i might not be able to fully.

is the fact that some schools only give financial aid to students who applied as freshman for it mean that the fafsa government aid will also not be given?

also, it is very late as Jan01 was quite a while ago and its near the deadline.

how are my chances for even getting much aid at all?

Most of these schools are private schools with overall cost of attendance hovering around $40,000 per year. My guess is that most of them require the FAFSA and the Profile as financial aid applications. Your investment values were supposed to be included on the FAFSA you did. If you have those estimates for the FAFSA, you should have them for the Profile.

Perhaps there is some adult in your family, or a close family friend who can help you and your family complete these forms. If you NEED the financial aid to attend, it doesn’t do you much good to check the “do not need” box. Please try to find a trusted family member or friend to help you and your parents complete these forms.

You ask about your “chances for getting much aid at all?”

Well..your chances of getting aid are zero if you don’t complete the forms.

Do this, what I am going to tell you exactly without question. Check that you need aid. No admissions will be based on whether or not you check this. Then go back and fill out every required form carfeully and on time. This will save you and your family thousands of dollars. If you are wealthy or dont care dont do it. Otherwise, do the work and just do it
