Would it be too early to set up an interview to St. Paul's School (or any other schools for that matter) since the applications for this year have yet to be released?

Call and find out. My daughter did all her interviews last year before she turned in her applications.

Ok, thanks!

We set up my son's Deerfield interview in august.

I am setting up my interviews during this week. If you plan on visiting all of the schools in a few days(I am) then I would suggest getting all of the interview/visiting times set asap. And I am doing some over the phone, those I am trying to schedule during a break so I have time to relax and am astute for the interview.

Ok. I'm all off-campus interviews for every school so i guess it wouldn't hurt to start preparing.

I have scheduled all my daughter's interview's for the fall, end of October, with six different schools. When I called one school they told me that the Saturday dates go quickly. She has already had two interviews and gone on four tours without interviews.

Ok, thank you.
:)

I'm new to all of this. None of my family has ever even contemplated boarding school before. Most of my familyy is against it (parents are for though).

I am staying with family during all my interviews, and that is the only reason I can do it... I have heard that those top 4 schools should get a visit in person... Hence why I am traveling to go to see my top ones. I am staying with my uncle to visit schools

no, definitely call the school if you want to interview, regardless of the apps getting posted up. sps isn't the only school that's like that (one of the schools i'm applying to accepts interviews wayyyy before they even post up the applications!)

and besides, you get a better pick on what day you want :P

I did my interviews for Andover, Milton, and Concord during July or August, so..I think you're good.
That was a long time ago. I was completely unprepared. I didn't know the prestige different at ALL. I was very lucky my interviews turned out so well...I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.

haven't set up any interviews yet. since S is part of a "feeder system" we're operating within those parameters with respect to what, when, how, etc.

We set up most of our interviews in September for October - January visits. I was able to get my first choice for all but one school and that was for Columbus Day. Even when we added 2 schools late in the game to visit in Janaury (set it up in mid-December) we were able to get the exact times we wanted. There are fewer times available on Saturdays so they do tend to go quicker, as do Wednesdays and any public school holidays (Columbus Day, Veterans Day, etc).

I doubt I'll have too much competition over spots here in Idaho for interviews, but I understand what you're saying, and even so, I still believe I should prepare earlier than most.

So, for those who have already had your interviews (students) and for the parents with the students who have done interviews before, am I correct in assuming that a parent is no necessary for the interview. My parent's work schedule makes it hard to plan, although I can see why parents are needed and why they wouldn't be. Either way I can work something out I guess, but just to get a clarification here...

(Sorry, I know I completely just rambled on.)

Oh, and when it comes to Exeter do I have to fill out my application first, as the site states, or can the interview be done before hand?

Most of the schools have you fill out an interest form so they can start a file on you. It's just name address etc. But you can submit your full application long after the interview.

tubachick, high five for idaho :D
my favorite summer camp RA was from idaho and he was VERY cool :)

and what photoOp said is right. most people finish their interviews long before sending in their apps, especially because most regular admission rounds stop interviews after january

Ok, I was looking at the "order" and they made it appear as if my application had to be in first.

Nevermind to that question anyways, I can't get my interview until they publish the applications due to the fact I'm off-campus.

You only need to fill out the preliminary application before an interview.
Great memories are surfacing...I filled out my preliminary application for Andover in the waiting room for my interview, in July. I didn't realize by "Interests" they were talking about extracurriculars. I put down some sort of random thingsI was interested in but didn't do. Luckily writing was one, which was/is my biggest EC. Good times, good times.
