too easy courseload?

Hi

I am just trying to finish my scheduling for this semester (I am a freshman) and would be really grateful if someone could take a look at it as I am afraid that it might seem too light. I am going to take Bio11 (3), Educ 195B (3), Hist5 (4), MCellBi 61 (3) and L&S 5 (1) seminar, which is 14 units in total. I will also have 2 or 3 units for research. I saw that many people here are taking at least 15 units of actual classes and am a bit worried if this schedule is fine.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

If you aren’t piling all of your hard classes for later, then it’s fine. Getting a 4.0 will help no matter what.

Educ 195B is actually 4 units, as there is 1 unit P/NP. Also that class takes about 4hrs/week of tutoring time at a local elementary school + 3 hrs of prep work etc. So it should be pretty time consuming :)

thanks for opinions! I’m going to major in Psychology with minor in Edu, so I hope that there won’t be that many hard classes to be piled up (?). The issue is that while I tried to get to some upper-division Psych classes, it seems really next to impossible… but hopefully it will somehow disperse all over :)

uh aren’t you a freshman?

yes, I know… the reason why it is so tough to get to UD classes, but since I do not see quite a point of taking classes I won’t need (and do not want) to take and from time scheduling reasons could not fit in any more psych prerequisites, it would not seem as that of a crazy idea given that some of them would be related to my research… anyway, with psych major, do you think that I am going to have lots of hard classes piled up later?

You could take an English Composition Course focusing on syntax and grammar.

If you get all of your pre reqs out of the way, then the remaining upper divs should be easy. As a a matter of fact, I’m currently finding it difficult to get to 13 units.

EDIT: I would also advice against psych, unless you really love it and plan on going to grad school.
