Too Good To Go…..who has tried it?

I have noticed Forgotten Harvest trucks at our local Panera. FH delivers surplus food to local charities. I think it’s awesome … so much better than tossing food that is still edible.

An organization called City Harvest has been doing this in NYC for 40 years.

Nice!!

There’s a lot of treasure hunt fun with this kind of thing. I had a laugh thinking of garage sale mystery bags. No, it’s not a real thing. But maybe it could be.

Just ordered from PauleiGee pizza in Wicker Park. It’s a really good pizza place and you can just show up while their open. So no strategy… Lol. Not going right when they open since it will be left overs but want pizza before the football games today. So might go 30 minutes before (2:00 central time) with hopes of getting some things from today… Lol. There is no specific time to pick up so I assume they are slower on Sundays and just another way to sell. Anyway, it’s pizza so heat it up and I am good. Surprised they were on the program.

Will do. We have done this is the past but I can see how addicting this could be… Lol Tons of good stuff in my area.

When Pequod’s offers a bag I will drive the 4.5 hours to get it. :). :pizza:

I haven’t seen that yet but YES!! Just talking about them yesterday. They have a great lunch special that I am going to have to force myself to do. But I wanted pizza for the football playoffs today and this is like getting a whole pizza for the price of a slice. We are not picky either so anything will be good They make great thin pizza.

If you get pizza! Looking forward to hearing what you get!

So now I am thinking. In Chicago we have tons of choices due to all our diverse neighborhoods. Our friend group is slightly scattered through out. We do dinners together often. How fun would it be if everyone is tasked to bring something from Too good to go. Of course someone has to get dessert… Lol. Can always have something easy like pasta ready to go incase it’s not enough food. A friend of ours actually turned us on to this and does it all the time for her family.

I had Eataly twice this week; both times, great bread, and I give away the cookies (too big for one sitting). I’ve also had empanadas twice, and tonight, after dinner, picking up pizza from Upper Crust - something I’d never do and have never had!

You all are sure making me wish they had this near me! They don’t!

The host can do dessert - then they can not have to go out and get a bag - they can buy ahead or make ahead and be ready to host!

Problem is we have some amazing bakeries that do this and the reviews are good… Lol…

Well we got 3 large slices of pizza for the price of 1. 1 pepperoni and 2 spinach with feta and tomato and onion. My wife and I will share that with a salad. I can definitely see this as addicting. I work in the western suburbs and might have to see what they have around there… Lol.

This was my slice and a half. My wife had the other. It was actually fantastic mushroom and onion… I am full now…

I said I was not going to get anything because of my diet and upcoming beach vacation. I lied, I did it at the market I did first time. Will report back later.

I may give up looking. The only place within five miles is the local Peet’s, which has not yet had any offers. Every day says “nothing today,” as opposed to “sold out.” They’re probably only on the list because the Peet’s chain signed up.
