too late for an interview!! have i ruined my chances?!

so the deadline for an interview is this friday. i have midterms everyday this week so i really don't see myself making the four hour commute up there. the website says that students who do not interview are placed at a "competitive disadvantage." what does that mean?!
Hamilton is a target for me, maybe even pushing towards a safety, but i don't think i would go that far given its low acceptance rates.
have i ruined my chances at this college?!?!?

My son did not interview and was accepted last year. But every year is different. Not sure they look at travel time with regard to potential to interview, but we live in the midwest and so it wouldnt have been a slam dunk regardless. Now, it’s been a pretty miserable travel month so not sure how that might work in your favor.

Technically, you still have a shot at being accepted into Hamilton College. However, Hamilton’s style of education and mission thrives on personal approach with students. If you are placed within the top 25% of the class, you still have a decent shot. If you’re on the other 25%, your acceptance will be significantly smaller. If you’re 300 miles range, you are expected to go and do an interview and visit campus. I had the chance of visiting and interviewing last friday. Beautiful school, stinks that you have to take midterms on your interviewing days.

If Hamilton is a top choice, call the school, explain the situation, and request an interview for the following week. Your have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
