Too late for financial aid?

<p>I was planning on applying to Michigan very soon, but my college counselor told me that at this point it's too late for me to receive any aid if I do get in. Is this accurate?</p>

<p>No. That is not accurate at all. Michigan requires the FAFSA and the CSS Profile. You need to have your tax info to get both completed. If they are done by mid-February or so you will get your financial aid information in March. </p>

No. The FASFA and the CSS Profile just opened on the 1st of January. You have time.

I didn’t file for financial aid until after I was accepted (middle of May 2014 for fall classes). I had no problem getting financial aid.

It is not too late for need based aids. However, it would be late for most merit scholarships.
