Hi all, I applied to Cockrell and chose Petroleum Engineering as my first choice and Chemical engineering as my second, I have already received my automatic acceptance letter, but I've been thinking recently I would rather have chemical engineering as my first choice. Is it too late to change? Will it affect my chances of admission? Thanks!

It’s not too late.
I requested to change my second-choice major from Plan II to Electrical Engineering two days ago, and MyStatus reflected the change yesterday.

Don’t worry about this. The first, and mostly the second year, the courses between the two will be almost the same. You could go to school your freshman year, take the introductory engineering and science courses (that all engineers take), and then decide. No need to do it now. Look at the proposed curriculum for Chemical vs Petroleum Eng, they are almost identical through your sophomore year. Don’t stress about this now, just go and get good grades.
