I'm kind of on the fence of whether I should self-study for AP Euro. The only other AP classes I'm taking (as a sophomore) is AP Biology and AP US Government and Politics.

The main problem is that we still have a lot of material to cover for AP Biology (only covered 17 chapters from Campbells), so most likely, I'm going to have to cover most of the material myself. I'm in the same situation (if not, worse) for AP US Gov - we didn't cover any material.

I don't know if I'm being unrealistic here about self-studying. I personally love history, which is the main reason why I'm considering that.

Definitely too late. We’re talking 500 years of history you’ll be trying to cram into your brain. Work harder on Bio & US G&P, then take AP Euro next year or something. Two AP classes as a sophomore is enough, lots of schools offer one or none.

You should have taken US History and Government together. European History is definitely not one you should self-study. There are easier APs to self-study. You might want consider psychology, environmental science, and/or human geography instead.

@ThePowerofOne (great book btw), I did environmental science last year. This year I purposely wanted to choose a harder AP, and European history isn’t offered at my high school, and I love history, so it fits for me.

as to xxrunningonempty, from what I’ve heard, if you have already taken APUSH, and if you follow politics a bit on the television or in newspapers, AP US Government and Politics is a breeze. AP Euro is another matter tho…

@scrivener- Yeah it’s one of my favorite books. :] Good luck with studying for European History. I’m far from a history person and I passed last year, so I’m sure you will too.

I took AP Euro last year and got a 5, I wouldn’t say it was 100% self-studying because I did have outside help, but my school didn’t offer the course itself. I started in early January 2009. You should be able to do it as long as you study hard.

IMO AP European is more challenging than APUSH. I made a 5 on both exams. The best AP European history textbook is A History of Western Society by McKay (AP Edition) and the best AP European history review book is AP European History Crash Course.

honestly if you work hard enough, you can do it
idk buy my online class cover only 16 chapters. definitely could read one of those chapters a day but it’d take ~1-2 hours. let’s say do that over a month - a chapter every 2 days. + 2 months of review? you can definitely do it. you just have to work hard
