Too many Community College Credits?

I plan on applying to almost every UC (Except Santa Cruz, Riverside, and Merced) and by the time I apply I will have 76 UC transferable units so I can transfer to my major (Economics or Business). Is this too many units to apply to the schools? Will it hurt my chances?

No.

It will not affect your application or admission, however, I do think there are caps for the number of CC units you may ultimately apply to your degree? I could be wrong here, I just seem to remember that. Either way, that’s a bridge to cross after you are accepted.

You’ll be fine. If all your units are from a CC, there is no cap. However @fullload‌ is correct - only 70 units can be transferred for UC graduation credit.

What @2016Candles said.

Guys is 81 units too much to transfer to a UC??

12 of those units are from CSU.

69 are from community college.

I believe 86 is the max if you have units from a 4 year school. I’m not sure if it varies by school, but 86 is the limit for UCLA.

My friend was transferred to UCSD with 104 units from SMC this fall lol

Just to clarify the 70 unit rule a bit, they only give you 70 units towards UC graduation no matter how many transferable courses you have taken, but the classes that are not given unit credit are not discarded. They still count as taken, so they can be used to satisfy breadth requirements or prerequisites, and once marked as taken you cannot take the equivalent class again at the UC.

provided you attained all of them at a cc your golden buddy don’t trip
