i know a few people have posted about getting more schools on their list but i have the opposite problem... i have too many~
people have told me i only need to apply to about 5 schools but i was thinking 4 UC + 9 others especially since im very worried about getting in with my gpa

Definately applying to:
Reach: UC berkeley, UCLA, u. of Virginia, USC
Mid: UCSD, emory, washington in st. louis, boston college
safety: UCI, U. of Puget sound

Thinking about applying to: U of Michigan, U of Texas at Austin, Georgetown, Notre Dame, Carnegie mellon, Tufts, Wellesley, Claremont Mckenna
and possibly: wesleyan, mcgill, u of illinois, or J. Hopkins

my bio:
i live in california (going to be a senior)
ACT 34 (about a 2270 in SAT?)
GPA 4.1/3.1 (weighted/unweighted :( )
few e.c. + community service
I'm pretty sure of a business major (in either internationally related or economics or possibly management) and i want to choose schools so that i not only have a balanced list but also have a better chance for a good gradschool and job

could you recommend about 5 schools either from my thinking about list or other schools that you think would be good? (preferably mostly mid range to a few reach schools) THANKS :D

Okay, it seems like you don't really have idea of what kind of school you are looking for. Do you want a large school? What exactly are you looking for? What are your academic interests?

You have 22 schools listed here. That is way too many. Have you visited any of these schools? Have you talked to the admissions officers, looked at the courses available? Only you can have the time to research what school is worth applying to.

thank you for all your advice and comments (:
i realise my list is a bit top heavy ^^ but i want to atleast TRY to apply to a few reach schools even if the outcome isnt so positive

catsushi- i like medium sized schools..though i am applying to a few big and small schools. Part of the problem is I'm not incredibly picky or specific as to what schools i like or dont like.. and that's why my list is too long. I really only hope that the school i go to has a good business/econ/international dept/program
yes i have visited a few of these schools and looked at their academics.. I'm just asking around to see if anyone has any opinions about theses schools to help me narrow down my list (:

^ i know :( that's whats worrying me...
will it help me any if i've gotten five 5's on APs and two 4's? ...but im only at the bottom of top 10th percentile to top of 20th percentile in my class :(

^ hmm true.. know any good middle ranged schools ?
im not adding any more safety schools because my parents have already decided if i dont get into any of my mid or reach schools im going to calstate fullerton or the community college :P ( or else theyre not paying -__-; )
