Will double majoring (biopsych and spanish) be an overload for me if I also have to take the "pre-med reqs" to do well on the MCATs? I mean will I be on overload between that and volunteering, research, etc.

In other words, would you suggest just sticking to one major? I wouldn't be as concerned if say one of the majors overlapped with most of the "pre-med reqs," but they don't.

I have strongly advised my D to major in one field only. Following her lifelong pattern of rarely listening to a word I say she is double majoring in Bio and Chem with a Religious Studies Minor.

In curmudgeon's daughter's case, a double major like bio and chem isn't all that too difficult considering pre-med req's covers most of it and the rest overlaps. The religious studies minor shouldn't be a problem either with careful planning. However, biopsych & are two entirely different fields which will probably make it very difficult to finish college in 4 years.

Thanks for the feedback, would minoring in one of those fields be a better decision then?

obviously, minoring would free up your schedule, and language minors in particular are usually pretty good about getting you to the point of having a solid foundation in the language and the literature, which is all you really want/need if you're planning on doing something completely different anyway (i.e. med school).

I'm generally an advocate of only having one major as a premed. There is nothing to be gained by having a second major as far as admissions go, and doing a minor instead of a major frees up your schedule for more diverse electives. I'm also a big advocate of just taking a couple classes in a subject area that interests you rather than worrying about structuring a full minor or major for it. You don't need to major in something in order to be exposed to it, and since you're not planning on applying for a job in that field anyway, overloading yourself doesn't seem to serve any purpose.

Thanks for the feedback phillySASer08, it's much appreciated
