Hi
I’m asian and 24 years old. I graduated my high school 2008 which is 7 years ago from now and have 2320/2400 SAT score. My question is am I too old too apply to Harvard univ? Do I have a chance to enroll? Give me your advises thanks
And I didn’t take college classes except ESL
There’s only one way to find out. My cousin went there in his early 20s, 4 or 5 years after high school.
You’re a youngster compared to Mary Fasano: http://www.harvard.edu/historical-facts
Would he have to retest?
^^ If the test scores are from 7 or 8 years ago, maybe. I believe most colleges want recent test scores – something in the last 3 to 4 years. The OP should call every Admissions Office on his or her list and ask about whether they will accept test scores taken prior to 2008. I imagine some will and some won’t.
I took a test this year.
Then you should be good-to-go.
One concern Harvard might have: If admitted, you would be the same age of many graduate students (who do not room with undergraduate students, but act in a supervisory capacity as tutors). I imagine one solution might be for the Freshman Dean’s office to give you a single, as the rest of your freshman classmates would be 17 or 18 years old. But, that’s a bridge to be crossed after you’ve been admitted.
thank you Gibby. One more question about that teacher recommendations who should I get that? From my High school teachers who were 7 years ago or ESL teacher in US?
Or Maybe before I send my application to Harvard should I study as undergraduate student at other univ for 1 quarter and then get a teacher recommendations from them? please give me your advise
I would call Harvard Admissions, speak with an Admissions Officer, and ask what they would recommend. Your high school teachers are not going to provide helpful information as too much time has passed since they had you in their class. I would think your ESL teacher might work, as well as a letter from your employer who can attest to your work habits, drive, commitment and determination.
If you attend another university for a quarter or semester, you must apply to Harvard as a transfer applicant – which is much more difficult than freshman admissions. In the past several years, Harvard has accepted about 12 transfer students from an applicant pool of over 1,500 students for an admit rate of less than 1%. Your odds are better as a freshman applicant.
Thank you for your amazing advises
