Please list the top 10 for Political Science.

Hello....?????

I know Ann-Arbor is #1 for domestic U.S. Political Science.. dunno about the rest (That's UMich-Ann Arbor)

Thank you. Anybody else?

Might want to take a look at Claremont-McKenna

I live in Cali, and I hate this wretched state. I would like to go East of the Miss. River. But thanks for the suggestion!

I would have to assume Georgetown is somewhere up there.

Good. I love Georgetwon.

The same question shows up every two weeks:

Top 10 for what? Law school admissions? Public policy careers? Academic careers? It's a little like asking which grocery stores have a good selection of white bread. Poli Sci is kind of a staple.

This may not be what you are looking for, but it's decent measure of how popular the major is at a college and how academcially oriented the career-paths of the students are. This list shows the top 50 undergrad schools in producing PhDs over the most recent ten year period per 1000 students of current enrollment. As you can see, there are lots of good poli sci schools. Add to this list several of the really good state universities which have no prayer of showing up on this kind of list just because such a small percentage of their huge enrollments is hard-core academic enough to even consider a PhD.

Many LACs are also excellent in Political Science. Amherst, Claremont McKenna, Haverford, Promona and Swarthmore are few that come to mind.

As for Georgetown, people often think that because it is located in the US capital, it must automatically be good in Political Science. In fact, Georgetown is actually not that good in the field. It is, however, excellent in International Relations.

did you space harvard to say it is better than the rest Alexandre?

Yes, whenever you see a space, it means a slight drop. Harvard is generally considered to have the best program in Political Science. It's like MIT with Engineering, Cal with Chemistry, Michigan with Athropology, Harvard with Medicine etc...

Is UCSD's poli sci dept. really competitive with the likes of Chicago and UCLA? Does this apply to undergrad also? I'm going to be a first year at SD focusing in Comparative Politics and I always thought the school's strengths were in the life sciences.

well if ur looking at proximity to internships i would say georgetown, gwu, and american

UCSD is excellent in many other areas besides the life sciences, such as engineering (especially biomedical engineering), economics, and political science.

The only way to make this list more dubious and less relevant would be to use the number of faculty as opposed to students' enrollment. Several of the schools listed above have less than a handful of professors for political science.

Yes. That would hurt a school in terms of number of pages published by professors in the Poli Sci department. Perhaps you could post that list. As I recall, it's one of your favorites!

I know GWU is not top 10 poli sci, but is it considered a top program?
