What are some of the more desirable campus jobs for freshmen?

I’d say any job where you can do homework while you work such as being a library desk attendant. You get paid minimum wage or a little more than that but you really do no work. You can also ask your professors about doing research.

When should we start applying for them? Are they a formal interview process?

I’d suggest working at the dining hall - you get a big discount off your meal plan, and free BRBs at the end of the semester. The interview process isn’t formal, and I’d say you’re pretty much guaranteed a job - you might just not get one on North campus, depending on how early you interview/how many spaces they have open

Apply asap. You can look on the Cornell website somewhere for a list of job opening. There are a bunch during the beginning of the year (August and September) but they decrease after that. The fitness center jobs are HIGHLY sought after also. And no there isn’t any serious interview process. They might sit you down and ask you a few questions but nothing serious at all.

I heard also that the theatre is a good place too?

Do applicants for the dining hall and other general campus jobs need a resume? If so, what do we put on it. For newspaper it would be obvious - experience from high school, awards etc, but for a place like the dining hall or a desk job?

mariambaby3, i work at the cinema and it’s awesome! again it’s minimum wage but you can do your work and watch free movies!

what about tour guiding? isn’t that the most difficult job to get?

If I’m going to be transferring in for spring semester, are jobs reset for everyone so I’d have a full selection?

Well actually, if I have a work-study, is that limited to particular jobs or same thing, you just choose and apply to what’s open?
