Top colleges that have no supplemental essays to common app?

I was wondering if there are any top colleges (can be public or private) that use the Common App and don't require any additional supplemental essays. If there are, I'm not sure how to go about looking for them. Thx in advance for the help

Go through the list of colleges that accept the Common App and see what they require on their supplements? I went through a few and found:

Harvard (optional essay)
Washington University in St. Louis
Vanderbilt
Middlebury

Boston College. Best safety school ever.

More:

Wesleyan
Washington and Lee
Brandeis (optional)
Case Western Reserve (only for scholars program)
University of Miami
Fordham
University of Delaware (only for honors program)
Miami University (Ohio)
Northeastern
American
Marquette University (only for athletic training/physical therapy)
Stevens Institute of Technology
University of Denver
Drexel
College of the Holy Cross
College of Wooster

Why do you want this information?

^b/c the OP like a bunch of other rising hs seniors have much better things to do with their time than filling out supplemental essays for the 15 schools they’re applying to on new year’s eve

When a school says optional… they really mean required…

no…they REALLY mean optional lol

I know… but it says a lot to the “Admission people” about the interest you have in their school when you put the time and effort in to do optional essays…

I am fairly certain Dartmouth does not have a supplemental essay.

Dartmouth does indeed not have an additional essay. :)

Muhlenberg does not have a supplement.

thanks a lot, i’m asking because i’m already applying to 9 schools that require supplemental essays. i want to retain at least somewhat of a life during the hellish beginning of senior year

^^Unless you are applying to a lot of schools known for their quirky essay prompts such as Univ. of Chicago, once you a get two or three supplemental essays written, it’s usually not that tough to recycle and refashion them a bit to fit the other schools’ prompts. There is no way you should have to write 9 full, separate supplemental essays.

Harvard and WashU are the best. They have the easiest supplements ever and they are super top schools. If you have the money and you like the schools, you should totally apply.

P.S. - I have 15 essays to write for six schools. I don’t know how you guys recycle, but only a few of mine even seem recycle-able. If a school has short takes, I combined them and called them one essay.

My son has not even started writing yet! I do not want to nag, so should I be worried?

I would not be worried yet pixeljig. However, it is time to get started. The Common Application is out. Your son should have completed the long essay and the activities paragraph by mid September so that he can focus on the supplements between mid september and late October (for his ED/EA schools) and then, between early November and mid December for his RD schools.

Thanks!

He was going to do it over the summer but got busy with other things. Essays won’t turn out good if he writes under time pressures.

ohhh helpful, i was wondering this too.

Nah, don’t panic quite yet. Start reminding him once in a while (DON’T NAG; I would not write out of spite if my parents nagged me). If he doesn’t get started by the end of September though, start ripping your hair out.
