Which top colleges have no supplemental essays on top of the common app? (or very short ones?)

I am applying to many of the top colleges in the country, but I realize that my chances are fairly low for getting into any of them. Does anybody know any such colleges or know where I can find a list?

So are you just shotgunning and hoping you get into one? Might as well find a lot of top schools you really like and spend a few hours writing a good supplement(s). Some argue that it’s even harder to get into schools that don’t have supplemental essays - meaning they’ll learn more towards ACT and GPA, so if you believe it will be hard to get in…

May not be the best idea to apply to schools that are easy to apply to, but to ones you are interested in so that those interests can be transmitted through your essays.

Nonetheless, of the few I know, WashU and Grinnell don’t have supplements. Swarthmore has a short 150-250 one asking why you want to go there. Middlebury does not have a supplement this year.

Also consider that many schools have similar prompts. For many of my schools, they asked “Elaborate on an extra-cirricular”. Usually under 150-250 words. I wrote one essay and I am using it for 3 different schools; Redundant to write another. Macalester’s only essay prompt is similar to one of Rice’s essays.

Good luck!

Thank you for the advice! I am working hard on a number of college supplements, I’m just looking for more schools that I can apply to just in case and for more options once I am picking between colleges I’ve been admitted to. My GPA and test scores are competitive (obviously they don’t guarantee I’ll get in, but they at least give me a shot), so this might even be beneficial.
