Top CSU

Hi,
I'm new to all this so i'll try to do it right. In what order would these CSU's be rated?
CSU Long Beach
CSU Los Angeles
San Diego State University
CSU Sacramento and
CSU BAkersfield

San Diego State

CSU Long Beach

CSU Sacramento

CSU Bakersfield

CSU Los Angeles

SDSU is way above all the other schools though.

But CSU Chico is the best party school

and

Cal Maritime is the one with the best employment rate upon graduation.

"SDSU is way above all the other schools though."

I dont think i would put sdsu far ahead of csulb. those two schools however, are far ahead of the rest. they are also far more difficult than the rest of the csu's listed to gain admission too.

from the perspective of future employers, there is SLO, and the rest. SDSU has a fine business program, but for other majors its academically no better than other Cal States. All offer a fine education. Visit, if you can, since some (eg, LA) have more of a commuter feel than others.

not trying to put down my own school but you can say the same thing about cal poly slo. its engineering and architecture programs are top notch but the other programs are on the same level as san diego, except for business in which sdsu is the clear winner. cal poly isn't really known for any other majors except architecture and engineering, so you cant say it will impress future employers unless you are an engineering or architecture major.

as for that list i agree with socal, but maybe csula above bakersfield

i think CSULB should be higher up, at least i dont think SDSU should be "way" above it. one of my sisters went there, and one is going there, so yeah i got some bias...but it's definitely got some great programs and repute. according to the sister that's currently attending, they've been using their high standing in the CSU system to change the school...make it seem like less of a commuter school and more of a higher end university.

Surfer dude: Not really true. CP SLO has great programs in agriculture, comp sci, graphic design, graphic communication, construction management, and the sciences.

I also agree with this ranking:

San Diego State

CSU Long Beach

CSU Sacramento

CSU Bakersfield

CSU Los Angeles

So these people know which CSUs are better because they read books about college ratings or heard something like, "this school is good, this school is so-so" from their friends who probably read the same college rating books that they did....I mean, did any of these people attend each of the colleges on an individual basis...no way....dude, it's all about favoritism. Since we're playing that game, I'd say that Cal State Northridge should rank amongst the top 3. Wahahaha.

i was just trying to prove a point, sure both cal poly slo and sdsu have many great programs. bluebayou says that only san diego's business stands out while the others are no better than the rest of the csu's, which is false; and in fact many of its programs are at the top in the csu system. both cal poly and sdsu excel in sciences (in which sdsu grants a few doctorate degrees) and some liberal arts studies. why is sdsu's endowment so much higher then all the rest of the csu's (except for slo of course) if all academic programs are the same. surely the state would focus on distributing the funds more evenly if it considered all csu schools to be equal. cal poly and sdsu do not even have the largest student body, that award goes to cal state fullerton which receives only $13.2 million for having 35,040 students. SDSU receives 99.6 million and cal poly slo 140.1 million, each having smaller student bodies.

There are too many CSU's to compare them all, but Cal Poly and SDSU are clearly the most popular and the most prestigious in the cal state system.

Read the question. The question was how would the SELECTED schools above rank, the selected, of which, are the 5 listed above. CSUN is not one of them in question.

And "Did these people attend each of the colleges on an individual basis...no way dude"......these are the type of foolish remarks that occur too often on CC.

actually i would have to say the slo has a great rep for their business program, same as sdsu but in silicon valley. They get just as many people into big 4 accounting firms as u virginia.

"these are the type of foolish remarks that occur too often on CC."

.....and no matter how foolishly common they are, there's always someone foolish enough to get offended.

No, I'm not offended at all, so you're statement doesn't fly. I'm just baffled, that's all...

Thanks for the advice everyone but my major is nursing so would that change the ranks of any school or do they still remain.

I know SDSU and CSUB are strong for nursing.

Picky, don't have enough knowledge myself, but I have a niece who evaluated all of the CSU campuses specifically for their nursing programs. She was accepted everywhere, and she chose SDSU for nursing. She is now a junior, and currently studying abroad until the Spring semester 2007. She has enjoyed her time thus far at SDSU.
