Top grad schools for E&M and/or Signal Processing?

Aside from just looking at rankings list (which hardly apply for grad school), which schools have the best advisors or produce the best papers in these two fields?

E&M: Taflove is at Northwestern, but I am not sure he is still taking students. Volakis is the most distinguished of a solid group at Ohio State. Jianming Jin is very good at UIUC, but I would not recommend his group if you do not speak Chinese. If you are interested in the antennas side of E&M that is a different group - let me know and I can give you some more names.

Signal Processing: No idea.

You sound like you’re familiar with computational E&M. Have you ever heard of Dan Jiao? I might choose her as my advisor but I’d like to look into other advisors first. I went to Purdue for undergrad.

I am familiar with computational E&M, I came to UIUC and started in Jin’s group before deciding that it was not a good match for me - I have since moved over to optical remote sensing.

I have heard of Dan Jiao, but am not familiar with her. She did her PhD at UIUC under Jin, I don’t know much else about her.

Back in the day, MIT and Georgia Tech were tops for DSP.
