Harvard SEAS VS Stanford EE VS UIUC ECE

Hi, nice to meet you. My name is Ethan and I have a hard time in deciding which school should I go to. I've got admitted to Harvard, Stanford, and UIUC in Electrical Engineering field.(Signal processing/Communications)

As you know, Harvard has great faculty(but very small) and one of them told me that he wanted to work with me. He is almost legend in this field(He devised Space time coding, which is essential in wireless communications) And also, Harvard provides me grant of $58K per year. But I don't like the ranking of EE(about 20~30)

However, Stanford has a better reputation in EE and also has incredible faculty. But I have to pass the notorious qualifying exam and should find thesis supervisor from the day I get to there. I hate this kind of uncertainty.

UIUC ECE is very good. I don't know the difficulties of passing the quals, but I think I can manage it. But I don't feel like living in Indiana.(bad weather)

If you were me, what decision will you make? Your advice would be very helpful to me. Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.

Well certainly don't go to UIUC. You would be in a world of trouble when you showed up in Indiana for a school located in Illinois!

Lol........

Sorry, I made a mistake. Of course not Indiana, but Illinois.

You're about a month late making this decision.

UIUC is particularly strong in Signal Processing, but Stanford EE has a better overall ranking/reputation. Personally, I'd choose Stanford, but either Stanford or UIUC should work fine for you. I'd definitely avoid Harvard SEAS, which is a lower ranked school.

Is Harvard SEAS that bad? They are selective just because they're Harvard?

Stanford seems like a clear choice to me.

lol.. did someone just put harvard engineering next to stanford and uiuc..?
