Top humanities program?

Hi,

I'm planning to major in History,Philosophy or International Relations.
I start searching a few schools but I'd like suggestions about universities, colleges with a top program in these areas and with a high number of students going to top law schools.

Can you suggest me any school, please?

Thanks in advance!

I imagine Georgetown would fit those needs, with International Relations being the #1

Princeton has fantastic philosophy and history, and the Woodrow Wilson School is also near the top for international relations.

Thanks for the replies!

I'm considering Yale and Harvard too,are they good at humanities?I heard that Yale history department is very good.

Anyone willing to add more schools to the list?

Most top schools will be pretty strong in those areas (and have good law school placement). I mean, we could more or less list all of the schools in the US World News Top [25/50/however selective you want to be] Unis and LACs, except for maybe some tech schools, in responce to the question posed (esp. since you have three different majors listed).

You really need to focus on other things to narrow down your list...do you want a Uni or an LAC? What size do you want? What kind of campus culture? Urban/suburban/rural? What kind of weather? What part of the country? Etc. Etc. From there, we could start naming schools that fit those criteria that are esp. strong in the deparments you're interested in.

Weskid-I don't care if it's a Uni or LAC.I don't want a very large school,I prefer study in a place with a low faculty-student ratio, must be a place that offers soccer,in the western or eastern coasts, I don't care about the weather too.hm....what more can I say to help you help me?

"I imagine Georgetown would fit those needs, with International Relations being the #1"
That is a common misconception. Well ide say overall, yes it is true for IR, but you really have to think in terms of geographical focus.

There are many schools that are better than G-town for IR with East Asia, simply because much of Washington politics is between the US and europe.

Anything europe related though, G-town is best.

With those criteria, you really should just hit up the top universities and LACs. Any of them would serve you well, really.

Brazilion: Do you want a big sports school or not? How much Greek life do you want? How big are you on partying vs. not in general? How conservative or liberal (both politically and in terms of social atmosphere) are you thinking? What about a core vs. open curriculum? Laid-back or intense academic atmosphere (keep in mind that laid-back can be just as strong as intense)? Do you want guaranteed housing all four years? Do you like the idea of a strong "house" centered dorm system, or perhaps a graduated dorm system (where upperclassmen are supplied with apartments or houses)?

One school that comes to mind is Tufts, I think they have very good IR. But as I and others have said, any top school will serve you well, academically.

If the school has a national ranked soccer team,is sufficient for me.Greek life? Not much.I love parties and the campus must have a lot of partying.I don't care about if it's conservative or liberal.Core or open curiculum I don't care about too.Yes 4 years house guaranteed.About the house system?I prefer a strong house centered dorm system.

Thanks for all the replies, and I'll be searching the top schools.
Any other insight?
Again thanks a lot!

House system?

You mean like at Rice?

Basically,yes.
I really like the Rice house system, also I love the Yale house system,it's amazing!

Yale's house system is the residential college system. Princeton also has that.
