Top IR schools, with descriptions

I'm heading to school in the fall of '07, possibly to major in IR and minor in journalism. Was hoping some people could help me form a list of schools to check out....

Personal: 670 (critical reading), 650 (writing), 590 (math), retaking in the fall. 4.0 GPA, hard course load, 4 years varsity hockey/varsity tennis, 3 years class treasurer, member of NHS, held various jobs for years.

Please keep in mind that I'm trying to get a good combo with the IR and journalism. Schools with separate IR undergraduate programs would be nice. Live outside of Boston, would like to stay east of the Mississippi, north of South Carolina. Urban to suburban school, preferably at least decently large.

List some reach schools, as well as safeties. I'd appreciate a description with the school you include.

Feel free to pose any questions, and thanks!

Anyone to offer a little help???

Reach: Tufts, NYU, Johns Hopkins
Match: GW, BU, U Maryland
Safety: American, James Madison

Not exhaustive, but these are the ones that come to mind.

syracuse- safety

Reach: Georgetown, Tufts, maybe Northwestern (they have an amazing journalism program)
Match: George Washington, Boston
Safety: American

GT2010 - Northwestern is out of the OP's geographical area, but otherwise, you're right.

I left GT off since I wasn't sure enough of their journalism program. IR, obviously. But how is their journalism?

I dont think georgetown has a really strong journalism program to be frank. But we do have a lot of student run papers on campus so I guess its good for experience/internships
