Top performing Babson Student -Truthful Review of the School

By top performing, I mean, I was selected to be FME-CEO, Ultimate CEO, was on e-board for my sorority, e-board for my fraternity, went on BRIC, went on the SF abroad program. Did internships every single year, ended up in MBB and had 3 competitive internships starting in freshmen year at Fortune 500 companies.

This is my true review of Babson College.

Babson places stellar students in stellar jobs because they have driven students to begin with. Babson picks students who are already scrappy, already think outside of the box and have overcome challenges. This school does not help you in any way reach your goals. Everything will be self-driven. You will succeed because you would have succeeded in any environment, not because you are at Babson.

If you are lazy and reading this, or not as outgoing, GO TO A SCHOOL WITH A LOT OF FUNDING. Go to a target school that has great alumni who will help you. Babson will not be that.

Do not be fooled by the CCD, they are not helpful, and will not land you a job at Google, Bain, or Goldman. You will get that internship because you met someone at Babson who had a dad who plays squash with a partner. This school is not worth the money, and if you are paying full price, it is probably the dumbest investment you will make.

I do give kudos for Babson, that they do provide a lot of financial aid. You will associate with other classes in ways that you previously would not be exposed to, however DO NOT PAY FULL TUITION FOR BABSON. YOU PAYING FULL TUITION, MEANS YOU ARE LETTING A POOR STUDENT WHO WILL PROBABLY BEAT YOU BECAUSE THEY WILL WORK HARDER SUCCEED.

Babson is too small to not feel like a high school, and if you are poor, the faster you understand what a love bracelet is, the sooner you will realize that you’ll never fit in with the rich kids. The students who do really well at Babson, are rich and they will only network with the other rich students.

I had a peer, who believed if he took out $20k in loans to party with the rich it would be a better investment than actually going to school. So he did, he continued his friendship with the rich kids, and lived in Boston and dropped out. He was right. He made connections internationally with students and started his career there.

Babson will provide you an environment which could lead you to a great job, by networking, however they will not help you. Babson does not have the alumni network that U-Mich has, nor does it have the actual talent that Stanford has.

Every time I am solicited for money as an alumni, I very politely say Babson did absolutely nothing to help me get to where I am today. The reason I am posting this, is that I unfortunately had to return to Babson due to an alumni commitment, and I cringe every time that the provost and president have to fake being nice because I’m an alumni with influence. I really need to not be on a college-board, but I felt that I needed to say my peace.

I am a current student at Babson and agree 100% with this. Most students who come to Babson are financially well off. Networking with students at Babson provides more value than the education itself. As a non/semi target school it really is up to your own self-drive. I wasn’t smart enough to go to Wharton but I’ll definitely value the friends and connections I have made here. And yes, if you’re poor you’ll probably not fit in with the general Babson vibe.
