does the topic of your choice essay need to have a question on the top of the essay...or can we just write

You don't need a question on the top. You just write (though obviously, it should have a point, so they can see why you wrote the essay you did.).

once again, thank you bookaddict

exactly what I had been wondering about the common app essay...
so to be clear, we don't need to put ANY sort of indication of the essay's topic???

I didn't (and I got into all the schools I applied to with a topic like that).

I mean, it should be obvious fairly quickly what your topic is. For the ones where I turned in the paper application, I had a title for my essay. And for all the essays, after reading the first paragraph, one could pretty much figure out what the topic was. If they can't tell why you wrote the essay after reading it, that's a bad sign.

i don't think its a bad sign, i mean the end of my first paragraph just introduces an idea that has sculpted my viewpoint on life/aspirations and what i do in school..i mean the first 2 paras are abstract but it gets concrete........thoughts?

what schools you get into Bookaddict?

I meant that it's a bad sign if they don't know why you wrote the essay after reading the entire thing.

What you have could be good, it depends on a lot of factors.

I got into all the schools I applied to (I applied to 12, which I don't exactly recommend), including the top UC's, Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, USC, and Baylor (where I currently attend w/a full tuition scholarship).

HAHA that is funny because I am applying to 12 as well. why do you not recommend it?

Well, it's kinda overkill. You really don't need to apply to more than -- at the most -- 3 reaches, 3 matches, and 2 safeties. More than that is just too much time, money, effort, and stress.

Unless, of course, you're like me and are way indecisive and have no clue where you want to go at the start of your senior year...

well 8 of them are on common and 3 have their own apps
