Topic of your Choice?

Does anybody feel that there are any negatives from choosing the "Topic of your Choice" essays? Does this choice make you look lazy because you are likely using a topic form a different school?

I wrote an essay that I feel fairly proud of for one college, but the the same topic is not available for my other college. Should I choose the topic of your choice option and use my already completed essay? Or should I write a completely new one?

Thanks for the help!

write the best essay you possibly can for every individual school- it's gonna suck and will take extra time, but it will be worth it when you get admitted. if an essay you wrote for one school, however, will work well with another, i'd say send it in- no adcom will ever know

and topic of your choice is definitely not a "lazy" choice- all that matters is your essay is strong.

Usually, topic of choice tends to be an option when the college doesn't care too much about what you write on. The other options they give you tend to be bouncing off points and such.
If you wrote a fantastic essay for a different topic, and topic of choice is an option, I think the adcoms would rather see that then your second best with one of their suggested topics.
