<p>Emory affected by tornado that hit atlanta?</p>
<p>I really don't know, but I'd imagine that Emory probably just had minor if any damage. It's only about 5 miles from downtown, which was hit fairly hard, but nothing incredibly bad. Maybe some of Emory's 3 billion plants got bent up and windows broken. I think that in 24hrs everybody will have forgotten all about a tornado hitting ATL.</p>
<p>I live like 40 minutes away and got nailed in the head by a piece of hail. Not the most pleasant thing is the world, but admittedly CNN tends to overreact a tiny bit on otherwise low to mid important stories near Atlanta given their location.</p>

<p>Hah, it wasn't too bad. Just a few curse words and I was alright. I really didn't expect the tornado in Atlanta to make national news. Maybe they ran out of politician-hooker or health scare stories tonight.</p>

<p>From people I've talked to, it's mostly a bunch of knocked down trees, a few of which damaged some houses and buildings, along with a bunch of broken windows. I mean, it does suck quite a bit, but quotes like this: "Mahsud Olufani, an Atlanta painter and sculptor with a studio in Cabbagetown, said, "It looks like a bomb went off, it looks like World War III."" make it sound as if Atlanta has been destroyed.</p>
<p>It's a rare occurrence, but nobody died (in the tornado that is, apparently somebody died from a separate storm in North Georgia) and there was only maybe one or two severe injuries. Then again, I haven't been downtown yet (it's close off I believe) so I don't know how bad it actually was. But yeah, it's a bit worse than it seemed at first.</p>
<p>But on the bright side, I haven't seen anything on the local news about Druid Hills or anything near Emory being hit hard. There's another huge storm coming toward Atlanta and the metro area in like a half hour or so, though.</p>
<p>Emory isn't that close to downtown. I've been back from Spring Break awhile, and I haven't even seen a branch down on campus, though I haven't really walked around either. Don't worry about it too much.</p>
