Toronto vs Emory

My D got into several colleges, and now narrowed down to Emory and University of Toronto. Here are the factors,

Asia Canadian

Toronto is about half of the total cost of Emory, no aid in both schools

Toronto has large class size while Emory has small class size

Emory has more flexible course selection, while Toronto is more rigid

Both are fine schools

If anyone has ideas to see what other advantages that Emory has over Toronto? My D likes Emory's balanced education but not full conveniced it has clear advantages comparing with Toronto.

She is pretty much undecided in major though got into Rotman Commerce.

Well what are you looking for and what is your situation?

 1. financial - will cost of Emory be a problem?
 2. how does your d learn? does she need smaller groups or does she thrive in big places?
 3. does she like to do core subjects again? do you think it is worth doing them?
 4. where does she plan to work eventually? Canada or US?

If it were my d, I would encourage Rotman.
btw, did your d get into Queen’s commerce?

moneyp

 1. financial: may afford both, but need to see the value of the price
 2. she is currently in a high school with small classes, but it is hard to say the challenges of large class size because no experiences on it
 3. yes, core subject is not a big issue, and has value. Do you mean U of T has rigid core subjects?
 4. She is fine for both, though she wants to do graduate education in US

Still waiting for information from Queen’s commerce, but among Q and UT, she prefers to UT because UT has more options in courses.

My US son went from a graduating class of 25 to UofT. If your D applies to programs like Vic One or Trinity one (where did she get in?) she will have many smaller cases.
Emory is super expensive. I can;t believe you would even have a question about this. UofT is known internationally. Emory, not nearly as much.
