TOTAL HOURS for activities in scholarship application?

I'm applying for a scholarship that requests I list all the activities I've participated in throughout high school, the number of years I've participated in them, and the total hours. TOTAL HOURS? WHAT??

Do they honestly expect me to be able to figure out how many hours I've spent participating in Orchestra -- something I've done for four years and done innumerable things in? Or Competitive Speaking, which I did freshman and sophomore year and have no recollection of how long I spent participating? Then they ask me to "sign" saying everything is accurate. Of COURSE it's not accurate, haha...how could it be? Has anyone gone through this situation and how did they handle it? Should I just throw out random numbers? Should I put "approx" before the numbers? Or should I just not put total hours and put like hours per week on average?

I would either put approx before the numbers of say “average hours per week” or x hours per season (for some sports)…my kids also found questions like this difficult and somewhat absurd just put down what makes sense to you (or what you recall) for each activity. You will not be alone in trying to answer these. For instance S2 had this on a scholarship app…he skis. He skis anywhere from 12-20 weeks out of the year (depending on conditions) and anywhere from 10-20 hours per week…again depends on the snow…not him. So what do you know. He did just that – for weeks he put 12-20, for time he put 10-20 tbd conditions. Good luck - do the best you can…

Thank you! That was an immense help…
