Toughest Classes Next Year

I’m really worried about IB 20th Century History HL, because the really great teacher who was teaching it got pregnant and decided to quit teaching, so the same teacher that we had this year (this year was was his first year teaching IB History of the Americas, and he had never taught anything higher than Honors World Geography) will be teaching that class for the first time as well. Greeeeeaaaat…

Oh, and IB English HL. Poetry confounds me!

How hard is AP World History? That’s the only class that seems like it would be hard for me next year.

AP Literature. Reading and writing for that class will probably consume most of my free time.

Calculus by far…

Not Partying 101?

As a rising sophomore, my hardest class might be IB Math SL Yr. 1(Pre-Calculus). I’m actually good at math, but since it’s an IB class, I’m worried about the homework load. Possibly Honors English too, even though my skills are pretty good.

My hardest class will probably be AP Bio

Mine will probably be Algebra II first semester and Advanced Math IV second semester…

I’ll be taking AP Calculus next year…:</p>

Yup.

Obviously every class is different, but if your IB Math SL I class is anything like mine, it’ll be a welcome distraction from the classes with an actual workload. Granted, I’m doing the full IBDP, so probably the rest of your classes aren’t going to be too bad, but my IB Math SL I class had no textbook, our teacher just made worksheets with practice problems, and we usually had one every day. It ranged from the front of a sheet of paper to two pages, front and back of each. If we had a test coming up, we got a review packet that was longer. Our exams were packets of IB questions that were super long. Overall, it was cake compared to… nearly any other class.

I’m worried about AP Bio, especially after seeing the score distributions this year.

AP Calculus. Math is not my strong point.

@SusieAnne

So I might not have to worry about the homework load then?

^That will completely depend on your teacher. That being said, my homework load for IB SL Math I wasn’t overly intense, but again, it will depend totally on the teacher.

Also, you’ll likely have a 6-12 page research paper that will be due towards the end of your sophomore year, and sent to the IB early in your junior year. At least, that was the case for us - not sure when you school is going to assign it.

I’m definitely worried about my “quadruple dip” in our science classes from my school, I’m taking AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Physics, and a college biochemistry course all at once! Hopefully I will make it out of this year alive!

AP Physics B is what I’m worried most about.
I am honestly not very worried, but I didn’t do too well in AP calculus AB this year. I know that physics B is algebra, but calc made me question my math skills (so I am also worried for AP stat). But I am really not too worried about those.
Especially since those are my only serious classes! I didn’t realize how awful my senior slide was going to be until I actually got my schedule… it’s really easy

AP Biology
The new test daunts me. I think this will be the class I’m gonna have to spend more hours on.

@nsojori09 The new test format makes me less worried. From what I heard, it’s more lab-oriented and more conceptually-based as opposed to past exams which was almost strictly memorization.

Thanks nickb14. That made me feel a little better. Solely memorization is not my forte. :O

Definitely Physics C AP
