Are you guys dreading any classes like I am? I’m mostly dreading AP Bio–my summer work is tedious and the people who will be in the class with me are all super into science and medicine and I’m not really, so I have to work especially hard, lol. What about you guys?
Physics C & Calc BC (depending on the teacher)
I’m with you! I’m really nervous about AP Biology. Everyone says that it’s difficult, so I have no idea what to expect.
…everything? I like all the material, but they’re all supposed to be really hard >.< However, I suppose I’m most scared for Honors English. English is extremely subjective and the teachers are hard, but I really want a 4.0 next year. There’s also the fact that I plan to show the teachers some of my own writing that I’d like to submit to competitions, but I’m not sure if they’d be willing to read and/or critique my work. I’m shy enough showing my work to teachers as is, and if they don’t like me, I probably won’t at all. Every other difficult course (well, AP World has a difficult AP test, but it’s not a difficult course at my school, so I’m not counting it) I’m taking is quantitative in nature, and there’s always a single correct answer.
@topaz1116 I love English, but I agree that sometimes it’s hard to please the teachers since writing grades do tend to be subjective. This year I especially had to tweak my writing to my teacher’s liking–sucks, but what else is an eager to please student to do, haha.
AP Lang. Really intense summer assignment, teacher is very rigorous with loads of of projects and in-class essays every week. He is a harsh grader, so if i can pull an A in his class, I am set for LIFE.
AP Calc AB
@astar99 this year I had a teacher who did not prepare me for 11th grade honors English. Although it was an honors class, it was absurdly easy. In addition, all of our essays were in-class essays, so I didn’t get to hone my writing skills.
I sent the teacher one of my stories for review and she never reviewed it -_- She did like me, though. A lot. (I talk a lot in class. Teachers tend to like you if you do that.)
AP Computer Science! does any one know what the heck you do in there? I feel so unprepared because I suck at computers :-S
OH MY GOD AP CHEM FR. THE NEGATIVE HYPE IS REAL
US History… I wasn’t born or raised there, and I know only very basic facts about this topic… but what can I do, it’s a requirement
Honors English, as well. It’s not my strong point, but English teachers are typically easy to please. I don’t know about high school though.
AP Biology, for sure.
AP Biology because the teacher thinks it’s the hardest class at our school and she hardly gives any As. It’s also a lot of work.
IB HL English because of socratic seminars.
Honors Chem… We briefly looked at it in biology, and I wasn’t good at it, lol.
Maybe AP Gov, not necessarily the content, but the amount of work in the class. I’ve been told the teacher is very nice but is a tough grader.
Definitely AP Calc AB. Or AP Lit if I get the scary teacher…
AP Lit. I generally dislike English classes and it looks like we’ll be reading tons of novels for the class.
I’m going to a new school so I have zero insight on how rigorous the classes truly are in terms of the teacher.
In terms of curriculum, however, I’m very nervous for AP Physics 1 (science in general irks me, and I have zero physics knowledge so I hope my algebra skills are enough) and probably Spanish 4, because my Spanish 3 teacher always talked in English and at this new school I’m assuming the expectations will be high for students to speak in Spanish at all times.
ap physics is going to be the death of me…
Everybody is always scared of Physics! There is nothing to be worried about. If your teacher genuinely cares about the class, you’ll have an awesome time! There are demonstrations for virtually every concept or topic. We got to hit our teacher with a sledgehammer! There were rarely days where all we did was take pages of notes. That only happened when we got to quantum physics, but even then we were having multiple discussions. Even if your teacher isn’t an energetic maniac like mine was, the concepts are easier to remember because of their real-world applications. Good Luck!
