Just ranting because I'm pretty ****ed off.

I never applied for National Honor Society, but this year (Senior year) I got "selected" (along with like half the class) anyhow.

But I declined induction. The guy who runs the chapter (who is also my track coach and a major a-hole) asked why and I said that there aren't any NHS events left in the year, and it's my last year in high school, and on principal I would not join an organization that I'd never interact with (really I'm just lazy and also I sort of wanted to denigrate the organization).

He tried to feed me some crap about how if I ever want to transfer to another college NHS would be very good to have on my application (pretty sure it makes nearly no difference). But I still said no.

THEN he gave me this confidential look and was like, "every class president's been in NHS". Then I understood what was really going on. Everyone in NHS wears this gaudy NHS bib during graduation and at the end all the NHS kids get in a group and get special recognition. But if the class president delivers his speech without the bib, and is not recognized as being in NHS, they look a little bit less important. So I pretty much told him to screw off and said that I wouldn't join and that's final.

ANYWAYS, now that the backgrounds out of the way, yesterday was the state track meet. I've been training insanely hard all year and I think I had a real shot at the top 5 in the 300m hurdles and maybe the 100m hurdles too. But when I went up for the event, with all my friends following to cheer me on and whatnot, they told me that no one was registered to run the event from my school. They were really sorry but they couldn't put me in now.

Ends up Mr. NHS "forgot" to register me. What a joke. I'm going to register my foot in his face next opportunity I get. Not really but I have to do something. Some family members have coached track so I need to check with them and see if there's anything I can do within the system, but I doubt there is....

This is a disaster.
