Is this a good worth EC that looks good. I enjoy track, but just running may gradually bore me...

Get a life

Do something because you want to and not because it'll look good.

As with all sports, track is a better extracurricular when you excel at it. Most high schools have walk-on track teams so being a non-varsity member of your school's track team may not be looked upon as highly as other sports would be.

You say that you "enjoy track, but just running may gradually bore" you. if you enjoy it, go for it, and worry about getting bored further down the line, like, perhaps, when you actually do get bored of it. On the other hand, if you're already worrying about being bored, then perhaps you are already at that point.

ECs look best if you are passionate about them. If you don't really care for it, then don't do it, and use the time more productively in pursuing something that actually interests you.

Track is great. It's not just running. You can jump, throw, hurdle..etc. Track kids are the best.

^ Track kids are the best, right after cross country kids. Seriously, just do track and/or cross-country, its just plain fun.

If you don't like it, don't do it.

What happened to doing ECs for FUN and to explore your passions rather than just doing something because "it looks good"?

Find a club or something that REALLY interests you and do that.

I really hate when people don't work hard and only do a sport for college, not because they actually love it. I am not saying that is you, I'm just throwing that out there.

sounds to me like you would only be doing it to build your resume? if that's the case don't do it. if you do you'll be one of those tools who only does ECs so that they can get into colleges rather than one of the people who do ECs that they are genuinely interested in and enjoy.

Okay, so doing a sport for a resume and all that, blahblah, but uh, I don't know about any of you, but it wasn't until I joined my sports (soccer and track) that I totally felt their AWESOMENESS. I never did sports for the EC rep in the first place, but I know people who did, but all of them are basically still there because doing sports is probably one of the best experiences you can have in high school. Even the ones on JV who will probably never make varsity stick around because playing sports is just so much fun.

Now, this all depends on your team too. If your team has no spirit and your coach kind of sucks then it's a lot less fun. But our track team is having a pizza party tomorrow, and our coach does trivia every wednesday and friday, and we have team dinners and dressing up for meets and all that sort of stuff going on that really makes it a special experience.

As for track itself, it's my favorite sport. It eclipsed soccer pretty easily. Watching people run and cheering for them as if your life depended on it, it's an exhilarating experience. And then running and having people cheer you on is just as awesome. Although I actually throw, but still, I used to run. It's good. Try it out, man. I bet you'll like it.

Oh yes, racing is FUN.
