Tracks A and B Biology

I've heard Track B is more computational, but is one of them "better" than the other in some way? I'm asking because timeschedules.uchicago.edu shows that all 120 spots in Track A are full, but less than half of Track B is occupied, so something's up.

I'm also curious as to how scheduling would work for a potential chem/biochem major. The course catalog says that chem/biochem majors don't need to take the prereqs for the mol bio (BIOS 20186) and genetics (BIOS 20187) courses that pure biology majors need to take, but does that mean that freshmen can take those courses? The course descriptions say those courses are limited to second years only...

I wouldn’t worry about planning your class sequences before setting food on campus. Once you get there ask some upperclassmen Bio majors in person, they’ll usually have the best info.

One tip: For many classes in Uchicago’s prereqs can be waived if you just ask the professor nicely, even if classes.uchicago doesn’t let you, just email him/her beforehand or show up on the first day of reading period and ask. You’ll know within 2 days whether that prereq was really needed or not.
