I know that minor traffic citations aren't considered a big deal when it comes to applying to law school or getting a job, but I'm trying to figure out whether driving with an expired license in California would be considered a minor traffic violation or a misdemeanor? My cousin is extremely paranoid about this but there's so much conflicting information on the web. Does anyone have any expertise on this issue?

We called the municipality where the traffic ticket was issued and asked them what the exact citation was. Also specifically asked if that ticket was considered a crime or even a misdemeanor in our state. The person stated that it was not considered either of those in our state. So that is how we treated it. I would suggest that you do the same thing. A phone call won’t hurt and it will put your mind at ease. No sense asking random people who don’t know exactly what you were ticketed for and how your state classifies that ticket.
