Tragedy of macbeth

Has anyone read this story? I'm writing a paper for English AP and the prompt to write about is up to me. I'm looking for some ideas of what I could write about. If you have any ideas, post away.

Thanks

The character of Lady Macbeth

second the above.

also could talk about the influence of the three witches in ruining his life.

What about how power contributes to evil?

ooo i like all the ideas listed above. also, you could talk about how the supernatural plays into the story's setting, plot, how the characters think etc.

blood motif, the importance of Elizbethan understanding of death and ghosts

the visions of the witches is another one. you can use that and link it to the specific actions of macbeth.

for example, the mirror with all of banquo's successsors. you can talk about banquos murder and macbeths ascension to the throne only to be unseated himself.

could talk about the different forms of insanity

you could talk about symbolism... ie lady macbeth always washing her hands, stormy weather when the witches are around etc.

or you could talk about the witches dancing around naked. just think, elderly ladies doing a jig around a firey vat. what sort of images does that bring to your head? not good ones i hope......

you could talk about the use of blank verse and prose as an indicator of the state of characters' minds. usually, when they're being honorable, sane, or they're royalty, they speak in blank verse. the use of prose is limited to the lower class and the royalty that fell from grace to evil...look at the characters' lines and you'll see what I mean.

Ambition leading to demise...

I haven't read it yet. I start AP English Lit on Jan 5th when I go back to school. So, I'll get to.

This isn't much help, but write about something you thought interesting in the book. It's always helpful if you like the topic.

Insomnia and how that contributed to Macbeth's paranoia and his hallucinations. ie. the "floating" knife.

or...

You can always write about how the prophesy was a complete hoax and that Macbeth's becoming king and his later self annihilation were all his own doing. It's always interesting to note how many people don't realize that had Macbeth not encountered the witches and heard their prophesy, he would never have killed Duncun, Banquo, gone mad ect...
